“The State of Your Heart”

Jeremiah 38-40; Psalm 74; 79

Highlighted Verse:

“God of our salvation, help us – for the glory of your name.  Rescue us and atone for our sins, for your name’s sake.” Psalm 79:9

The psalms in today’s reading lament the stage of God’s people due to their sin.  The details of the fall and destruction of Jerusalem are recorded in the portion of today’s reading found in Jeremiah.   Their land was invaded and destroyed.  They cried out to the Lord for help.  This another good time within the story of Scripture to remember our own need for rescue and redemption.  We need to take our sin very seriously and keep ourselves in step with the Spirit.  Our hearts must remain ready to hear from the Lord and seek Him.

What is the state of your heart today? Take a minute to confess the sin in your heart and seek forgiveness from God your Father.
